When I travelled through Paris there were coin operated bathrooms. It wasn't very expensive, they were convenient and I imagine the money helped to maintain them.
I am not advocating for paying to use the washroom, however there has to be a system that will work for Prince George. Vanderhoof has the bathrooms in the park open all year round - it was so nice when I stopped for a walk with my kids and puppy last February to have access to a public washroom right in the park instead of having to pack everyone up and look for a gas station or fast food place.
