A housekeeping note first. A reader let me know that they had downloaded the Substack and stopped receiving this email in their inbox. There’s a thing with substack where once you get the app you can manually choose whether you receive subscriptions in the app, in your inbox, or both (or neither?). Anyways, to get it in your inbox go to this link and then make sure the notifications sections looks like this:
While I’m at it, please let me know if you get any other weird Substack things like them suggesting you pay to subscribe or stuff like that. This is a free newsletter, I have no interest in charging you for it, but Substack seems to increasingly interested in trying to push engagement by other means. I will likely migrate away from it at some point due to this but I need to take the time to actually do it and make sure the alternative works well for you. So anyways, for now, yeah, that’s the deal.
Here’s another thing: I know that a lot of you subscribe to this newsletter because you want to follow the news but like to have a way of consuming it in a digestable form, as opposed to the endless scroll of social media feeds and refreshing news websites. Given what’s going on south of the border, that can be harder to do, but there is a new newsletter that is aimed at helping you following the news of the presidency without losing your mind. I’ve found it useful, so I’ll share it to you.
On to today’s letter.
