In my fallow era
Read to the end for a cool 3D rendering of what downtown Prince George could be
From an essay titled “Good Enough”:
“Lying fallow” is a restorative withdrawal from life, an enlivening little death, which Khan recommended to patients in need of re-accessing “that larval inner experience which distinguishes true psychic creativity from obsessional productiveness.” Today, we might see Khan’s “lying fallow” as a fruitful redescription of what is commonly termed, and unduly pathologized, as burnout: terrorized by the demands of frenzied productivity, we retreat from life into languid seclusion, in the hopes of rediscovering our inner reserves of spontaneity and self-directed play.
As you may have gleaned from yesterday’s newsletter, I am feeling the desire to lay fallow a while. That doesn’t mean I’m putting this newsletter on hiatus just yet — I definitely will sometime around the summer — but as indicated previously, I’m going to have more days of just quick news rather than blocks of original writing. So here we go!
“It’s fun to see it back like this, the players have had such a great season and it’s exciting to watch,” said Hamhuis, who sat in the press box with his family from Smithers for Game 2 of the Spokane series.
“You can see why people are out watching, it’s exciting every night and I think as an ownership group this is kind of what we’ve been building for, for a lot of years. It took a little longer than what we initially hoped, but we’re happy to be here now where the team is doing really well on the ice and the city of Prince George is excited about the team and coming out to watch.
