The school board chair says to call her if you have questions about the district, so here's how to do that
And the 5th homicide of the year
“We speak to the media when it is needed,” Weber said, adding she hopes parents are actively involved in board and parent advisory council meetings, or to “give us a call on our cell phones, we are always here.”
Weber has not answered or replied to one of My PG Now’s numerous phone calls.
That last sentence is key: Journalists are members of the public, albeit ones who have the time to do a bit more research and have conversations that may be of interest to more people and share those. I’m not sure why you’d answer calls from other people but not journalists. Plus:
I think the full exchange, posted on CKPG, is actually worth watching.
Weber: We’ll speak to the media when it’s needed. The information goes out in many forms… we’re always here.
Reporter: You’re not though. We called and got no response.
Weber: The comments are given when they’re needed. When there’s direction from the board and the senior team.
Reporter: Who decides when they’re needed? You?
Weber: When the board of education deems that we need to go ahead and give an in-camera (sic) public media statement, we will go ahead and do it.
Reporter: We’ve had provincial representatives … who have spoken out on this. That didn’t warrant a response from the board?
Weber: We gave our statements when they were needed.
Anyways, since the board’s preferred method of communication is having members of the public contact them directly, it may be useful to note that their contact information is listed on the school board website. They’re all there but Weber is the designated spokesperson.
