I talked to both fans who got the boot Friday. All they did was heckle the Winterhawks bench, called one player a liability and said the coach works on diving in practice. It may be a case of extremely vivid deja vu but I don't think this is the first time Mike Johnston has had a Cougar fan ejected. Never seen another opposing coach have any issue with our fans. In my professional opinion,
it was extremely soft and has become quite overblown.
Yes, he was there again on Saturday, a few rows behind me. Loud, but not swearing. Just typical chirping. I didn’t find it offensive. Johnson is not a fan, I’m sure.
Now, there was a guy sitting next to us who got kicked out Saturday night, and that was my doing because he started tearing into a couple of teen boys sitting in front of us for no reason. He was not a Cougars fan. Just some guy who came up from Vancouver to see the game. It was a delight to see him escorted out. Imagine being a grown man and picking on two 15-year-old boys who are proud of their team.
There's a book and a movie based on Brian Spencer's life: Gross Misconduct: The Life of Spinner Spencer by Martin O'Malley. It's a really good read - very engaging - and I was able to get it (for free!) through the public library's interlibrary loan service: https://www.pgpl.ca/request-form
I read enough of the Wikipedia entry on CKPG to jump to the comment section to say, "Sounds about right for Fort St James." Although, as a Vanderhoof resident for nearly 14 years, it could also apply to that community. There is something weird about that part of the world from the stories I heard....
