Yesterday you talked about the kinds of things that people generally care enough to be vocal about. For me, transit is one of those issues. I don't ride the bus; I avoid it. But I actually enjoy riding transit. You get a warm ride and you can read and not have to find parking. Our transit system sucks so badly, though, that any possible benefit is cancelled out by how bad it is. (I of course have all the solutions, but the city has never implemented any of my suggestions, so I remain an avid non-rider.)
I absolutely do not miss transit here. Spent years riding the bus with baby or toddler and baby in tow (thanks epilepsy!) and it was horrendous. At that time, there wasn’t so much as a bus to take on Sundays and holidays. Imagine. Like this is actually an improved situation. I remember pre-number 47, there was just the 46 that went in a one way circle. Aaaahhh.
Omg the bus stops in the winter where you either had to stand in a foot of snow, or stand right on the street. I lived in the Millar Addition and it was much faster to walk to Save-On, and often faster to walk to the mall.
And yes, with good transit systems, I prefer transit!
