"B.C. Conservative leader John Rustad said social issues such as gender identity should be fully removed from public schools"

Yes, because we all know how when we were in school, we were all genderless robots and none of us ever interacted with the diversity of other students in the classroom or hallways, like a microcosm of society. *insert eye roll at Rustad*

This argument is getting old. Do better, Rustad.

also, thanks for the news about Save On Foods and their lease! As much as an "Everything Wine" sounds so intriguing, I really hope we get a lower cost grocery to give people in the core options other than their local 7-11 to buy food. <3

I wish there was a way to have some sort of actual balanced discussion about some of this: what about those people who are very tolerant and / or allies of gender inclusive spaces and safety, and yet really feel like our schools could do better and spend more time at teaching core subjects? And those folks who would go to the ends of the earth to defend another's right to be who they want to be, and at the same time, would prefer that parents were allowed to be involved in a child's decision about gender? What about those people who really worry about the extremism on both sides of this issue, and just would like to find some balance? No hate. Anywhere. What about those who worry that sex-ed, which used to be a subject you learned about in grade 6 or so, is now being taught to younger children, more frequently, and in more detail? Or those who worry that families aren't getting involved enough, and that a family's core values (whatever they may be) are not given enough respect? Parents who try to have good relationships with their kids, and would want to give their kids space to figure this stuff out, but worry that decisions might be made that would have monumental consequences -- many of these parents are worried and afraid to speak up. They want their kids to be who they want to be, and want to be supportive, but feel afraid to ask questions for fear of being labelled transphobic.

What about all of the people in the middle? Like those who see a lot of nuance and grey and feel like both camps of protesters are failing to have the necessary conversations?

Thanks for restating this so clearly, Andrew. Perhaps repetition will prevail where common sense has not.
