It’s been a while, but not long enough, since we had a downtown fire but yesterday one broke out in the old City Second Hand building at 4th and Dominion.
Watching the building burn to the ground was like a community event. Saw a lot of people I hadn’t seen in a while! The firefighters were amazing and daydream donuts came out with snacks for the first responders. There was also a solid contingent of people nervously watching the Croft holding vigil. So glad to hear that institution is still standing.
huh, yeah, I've heard/read bits of controversy with West and I don't like his vibe at all, nor am I impressed with him suddenly showing up purely for what is in all likelihood personal political gains.
He also reminds me a little too much in looks of JD Vance and Kyle Sampson (lol).
my husband went to Zoe's for a mid-afternoon baked good break, and said he could feel the heat radiating off the fire when he came out onto the street. I was WFH yesterday and my regular office space is in the Plaza 400, so I missed the excitement. Again.
I'm glad first responders and the public are safe and that the Croft survived!

How touching that PoCo Mayor Brad West came all this way to perform his faux populist act for a PG audience - riding the gravy train all the way on his multi-dipping salary of $342,512 (https://globalnews.ca/news/10958296/metro-vancouver-politician-pay/).

Vance & Sampson - yikes, I can't unsee that now!
