I was thinking about the elected officials and "local celebrities" showing up for a McDonald's re-opening.

It would have been nice to see them up at Open Door Cafe, throwing their support behind Katrina, her staff, and all the other independents that provide baked goods and gifts at the cafe. It is a lovely atmosphere filled with coffee, light meals, treats and more and deserves the support, what with the corporate coffee chain that has opened yet another location next door. Or how about Ron and his buddies supporting other independent businesses that offer unique goods, services and experiences in PG, and have competition from the corporate giants? Why McDonald's of all places? Is Grimace paying off someone??

I agree completely about showing up for local businesses, but I will simp endlessly for the Open Door. I've given myself a twice a week quota to go there to combat the Starbucks that opened next door.

haha, I made the trek at least once a week from east of town and up to the Hart to get my Open Door fix. I think there are quite a few of us who are loyal like this. :)

My husband warned me about the cybertruck last week and then just a couple days later I stood up from getting a crown on my tooth and there it was, out the window next to my dentist. Terrible timing.

Your comment made me laugh aloud, because it sounds like what my reaction would be.

First, and most importantly, I'm so sorry to my fellow Northern BC residents who were exposed to their first Cyber truck in real life.

Secondly, it's wild to me the openings Northern BC politicians go to. I remember in Prince Rupert there was a grand opening ceremony for the new bathrooms at the Crest Hotel. There is even a letter from the Queen's office framed in the women's bathroom thanking the town for an invite to the opening. To this day, I don't know if it was pro or anti imperialism inviting the Queen to the opening of a bathroom.

I have had my Subaru Solterra for a couple of winters now, in the -40oC’s in uses 10% more battery, but like a baseboard heater it defrosts very fast and becomes super warm, quicker than a conventional vehicle, and has served me well. A Electric Motor for each axle adds the right amount of weight for perfect traction in any condition. $2.71 worth of power opposed to the $25 worth of gas for the same distance in the Wintertime, less energy used when not using climate control; the nice thing about Tesla is the back up their product, mine is time tested Toyota Electric technology on a Subaru platform known for high clearance and perfect performance with excellent reliability. Price breakdown is cheaper than Running a Gas or Hybrid; however the cost in excess of what a cybertruck costs whatever I am saving is lost to what must be ungodly payments for that Tesla; new Chevy Electric Truck gets 720km before a charge, Ford Lightening gets 555km before a charge, mine gets 450km to a charge

I also have an EV, no issues in winter. But seems the cybertruck, or at least some of them, are uniqely prone to bricking.

UPDATE: there are TWO cybertrucks in town.

1. about 45 minutes ago, we spotted one parked in the 20th/Victoria McDonald's parking lot as we were heading back home from grocery shopping. Because they spent all their money on a Cybertruck, they go to McDonald's for lunch?

2. literally a minute later, another one pulled up beside me in the left lane as we were waiting on Victoria and 15th for the light to change.

I have dash cam footage but NSFW, as I said a couple of expletives in response to its hideousness. Then I said to the husband, "I want to try to key that thing" and his response was "don't worry. Between the rain and the salt, it will be rusty in no time."

The cybertruck was in the Santa Parade! It was pulling a Sauna2Go.ca (mobile sauna rental) sauna.

My husband was stuck in Quesnel on Friday, after that terrible accident by Hush Lake. He stayed at the Sandman hotel.

He saw this first Cybertruck, probably this one? It also stayed at the Sandman. He said it looked as expected.

It is like getting Whameggedon'd. Cyberggedon'd? Muskeggedon'd?

I haven't seen it yet and if I do, I'm afraid that I might burst out laughing, while cringing, while drawn to its incredible ugliness. A tragic design accident that I cannot turn away from.

Edit: "the defroster bricked my Cybertruck" story is a good one. The husband was regaling me with this tale a couple of nights ago. Not a farm vehicle, apparently.
